Fees and funding for international students

Find out everything you need to know about international (non-EU) student finances at undergraduate or postgraduate level, including tuition fees and scholarships for international students.

With fixed tuition fees, we aim to make studying at the University of Southampton affordable.

If you are a student from the European Union (EU) please see our fees and funding information for UK and EU undergraduate and postgraduate students.

          Fees Funding

          Fixed tuition fees

International students will pay the same fixed fee for each year of their course up to a maximum of four years, whilst they remain on the same course. Any change in course will result in paying a higher fixed fee for each year of that new course. This applies to all International students who start at the University from 2015/16 onwards.

          International fees

We generally charge two levels of fee. A ‘home’ fee applies for United Kingdom and European Union (EU) students. A higher ‘overseas’ fee applies for students from countries outside the EU.

For full details and to check which fee applies to you, check your fee status.

What is included in the fee?

Our fees for full-time study for international students from outside the EU include the full cost of tuition, examinations, Students' Union membership and research support expenses (where applicable).

          Southampton International Merit Scholarships

The Southampton International Merit Scholarships award up to £3,000 to eligible students as an automatic reduction in course fees for the first year of the course.

No separate application is required as the scholarship information will be included in your offer letter. To receive the discount you must meet the eligibility criteria, and have accepted your conditional or unconditional offer from the University of Southampton.

This scholarship can be combined with the Southampton Alumni Discount (where applicable), but not with other University of Southampton or external scholarships.
